There are certain expression in Korean that is purely beautiful that can’t be translated any other way. For example, in English we say “my mom” when talking to others about the person who gave birth to us. But in Korean we say “our mom (우리 엄마)”. Because not only is she my mom, but mom to others as well–it’s a shared entity rather than only for one individual like how we share appetizers.
Erica A. wanted me to capture a mini photo documentation of her and Toby—her beloved four-legged companion. I have to say, he is one sharp dog. He was acutely aware of his surroundings and even posed for me every time I pointed my lens at him. Maybe he was a model in his previous life. Like any beloved pet, he was so excited to see her when she got home.
Cardboard is one of my favorite material to work with–it is sturdy, flexible, and can be found for free. The last time I made something out of cardboard was for a class back in RISD–the assignment was to make a chair, I made a cardboard toilet.
Last month I was invited to photograph a poker game held by a group called “The Golden Sperm.” It is a monthly game composed of fathers in Baltimore’s Federal Hill neighborhood. The game took place in an office space and was attended by about twenty people. Poker Table Craft provided the Primus table for the gentlemen to enjoy for the night.
